I could not have asked for a more amazing home birth experience! Desi is an extremely patient, calm, and understanding midwife who is very flexible to meet any needs or wants that you may have. She was able to help me emotionally as well as physically through such a meaningful experience and I could always count on her to have sound wisdom with all of her experience with birth. I had the BEST prenatal care, the most AMAZING birth and stress-free post-natal visits with Moon Sisters. Desi allowed for my two children to be a part of this journey so much, from letting them help with the heart monitor at visits to being in the birthing tub with me to catch the baby. My labor and birth experience was everything I wanted and needed from Desi and she fully understood that. If I was to have more children, hands down I would hire Moon Sisters again without a doubt but 3 children is enough for me.

I hired Desi and Kyla to be my midwives for my 4th natural birth and am so grateful I did. While Desi and Kyla provided outstanding birthing knowledge and care, I really benefited so much from their insight into motherhood and pregnancy. They helped me navigate a tough move at 36 weeks pregnant, helping me through anxiety with natural solutions and empathy. Their insight into motherhood and birth is unparalleled, and they were an emotional buoy for me during the hard times of pregnancy and birth. My husband felt completely comfortable having an at home birth experience (for the first time) with Desi and Kyla, and I am grateful that we did not have to go to the hospital during Covid times. They were 100% capable medically capable during the entire at home process and prepared for emergencies and/or transfers if needed (which we did not). Knowing that I had experienced PPD with my 3rd child, Desi and Kyla provided extra support with check ins for me after birth. In short, Desi and Kyla went above and beyond in their care. Desi & her services were everything I dreamed of when planning for my first home birth. She is kind, attentive, knowledgeable, and makes you feel so welcome and comforted. I cannot imagine having any other Midwife supporting me through pregnancy & birth & hope to work with her again. 💖

Desi was amazing to work with through the whole process. Open to talk about anything and was very accepting of my family dynamics. She was even very attentive to my firstborn and let my son be a part of all our appointments. I was so happy she worked with me to do payment plans so I could afford to do this. Now I had the birth of my dreams and Desi and her network of midwives really helped us feel comfortable, supported, but not overbearing when it came to letting you work through the labor. And I got to be at home with my baby the first night and not in a hospital. Thank you Desi for giving us a wonderful gift that we will treasure forever. Would do home birth again with her if we do a round three for kids, but we will see.

My first pregnancy and birth with Desi at Moon Sisters Midwifery was absolutely fantastic (I had a 10lb baby!). She has a natural way of helping me feel comfortable, accepted, at peace and she’s so open to how I approach my pregnancies and birth. We’re preparing for our second homebirth with her coming up in August and I’m actually getting excited. It would be impossible to express in a Google review all the reasons why my care with Desi was healing, comforting, assuring, affirming and peaceful. After having an experience with hospital birth that I did not want to repeat, Desi helped me achieve my dream home birth. She was confident, helped me to make informed decisions, was always there for me when I needed, was extremely present and patient with me, and in general just felt like a member of our family throughout my pregnancy, birth and postpartum days. I knew going into this birth, that I wanted to have a homebirth, but my family was unsure. Desi did so much to gently educate and reassure them so that we were all on the same page. II came to Desi as a 37-year-old expectant mother, worried she would consider me too old to have my 3rd home birth. Quite on the contrary, she had no concerns about my age. She was warm and compassionate throughout my whole pregnancy, and treated my older daughters with kindness when they visited.

Desi has a robust network of midwifery companions in the area, and was able to refer me to another midwife for some acupuncture work near the end of my term. She also enlisted two additional midwives to be present at the birth due to some extenuating circumstances that she wanted extra eyes and hands for (normally she invites just one additional midwife).

I lived about an hour from Forest Grove, but Desi was more than willing to travel to me for home visits before and after baby’s arrival, and on the day of the birth. She also came out when I was having strong false labor, and provided some tips to get labor going again if that was my wish.

The office itself was cute, comfortable, and neat. Although it is on the 3rd floor, there is an elevator and it has a bathroom close at hand.

I would refer Desi to anyone. She believes in the wisdom of women’s bodies, and was exactly what I needed in a midwife. She was a confidante, a cheerleader, and a calm anchor. You won’t be disappointed with Desi if you want to have a beautiful, supported home birth.
